Development Review and Permit Process Advisory Committee

ESTABLISHMENT
As a follow-up to a public workshop held April 2, 2017 and subsequent public discussion, the Indian River County Development Review· and Permit Process Advisory Committee was established by Resolution 2017-070 by the Board of County Commissioners on July 12, 2017. The committee will focus on identifying and making recommendations on items to improve and/or streamline the development review and permit process and on items identified by staff.

MEMBERSHIP
The Development Review and Permit Process Advisory Committee shall have eleven voting members appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Each Commissioner is charged with the duty of appointing two members: one member shall be from the building and development community and one member from the community at large, but preferably knowledgeable with respect to some aspect of building and development. The eleventh member shall be an at large member selected by a majority of the Commission.

Members must reside, work or own property in Indian River County.

DURATION OF COMMITTEE AND TERM OF OFFICE
The Development Review and Permit Process Advisory Committee shall automatically be sunsetted one year from the date of its first meeting or completion of its tasks for the Board, whichever occurs first, and the term of office for each member shall terminate at that time. The duration of the Committee may be extended by the Board and the term of office for the members shall be extended accordingly.

MEETINGS
Meetings shall be held as decided by the Committee in coordination with County staff. A meeting may be called at the request of the chair of the Committee. The agenda for each meeting shall be established by the chairman in coordination with County staff. The chairman, staff or any Committee member may place matters on the agenda. Any Committee member may make an oral or written report on committee activity at a subsequent Board of County Commissioners meeting under "Public Discussion Items" or under "Departmental Agenda Matters" with the concurrence of staff.

Update: At the BCC meeting of 11/06/18, a motion was made by Vice Chairman Solari, seconded by Commissioner Zorc, to authorize the Development Review and Permit Process Advisory Committee (Committee) to hold up to two additional meetings to consider the additional topics listed in the staff report and forward final recommendations for future consideration by the Board, with a final sunset date of February 28, 2019 for the Committee.
